9 Ways to Make your Small Business Blog Better

Better Small Business Blog

With the millions of blogs available online, it can be difficult to figure out the best ways to make your blog stand out. Don’t let all of your valuable knowledge go to waste in a blog that rarely gets any page views. Make sure your content has a good place to call home with the following 9 tips to make your blog better.

1. Remember your Audience

When putting together the content for your business blog, it’s important to make sure that you’re catering to your intended audience. Whether your blog touches upon trends or provides insight into a specific industry, you want to always keep in mind your end goal. Ask yourself who you’re writing this material for and what do you look to gain from reaching out to your readers.

When you are mindful of your audience, you can ensure that they’re getting maximum value from your blog.

2. Mix it up

When it comes to planning the content for your blog, try to keep it as interesting as possible by changing it up. Bring some color and variety to your blog with different types of content including infographics, charts, pictures, and videos.

Having a good mix of content will help to appeal to a larger crowd and open up your blog readership.

3. Don’t fear the comments

Open up the ability for readers to leave comments on your content. It’ll offer a place for you to continue to engage with your different readers. The more engagement you are able to have with your audience, the stronger the relationships you’ll foster. When faced with a negative comment, don’t shy away. Respond in a meaningful and thoughtful way.

Strong relationships can eventually lead to loyalty and we all know how important customer loyalty is!

4. Invite Feedback

What better source is there to get some constructive feedback for how your blog is performing than your current readers? Survey your readers and check out what they think. Conducting any kind of marketing research amongst your own readers will give you specific insights that you won’t be able to get anywhere else. Find out what your readers are enjoying to read and what kind of information they’re looking to find from your blog. It’s up to you to deliver the expertise on the subject matter they’re most interested in.

5. What’s Trending?

Don’t fall into the trap of always posting content that is directly related to your company or business. Try to offer valuable industry-specific news and trends that are both topical and relevant. Reporting on the latest will bring more readers to your blog, just by online search alone.

6. Report Back on Events

Have you attended any industry events or trade shows recently? Feature some of your blog posts on your experiences attending such events and conferences. Elaborate on what you saw, the people and companies you met, and how you felt after attending. This will resonate with the readers who look to you as an authority on your industry, product, or service.

7. Bring Life to Old Posts

Remember those old, but great, posts you’ve written in the past? Don’t let them get buried under all your new content. Feature your old posts and make them easily available to access on your blog. You can also close the loop and link back to your old posts within your new posts. Here’s a great example.

8. Be Social

Facebook has an excess of over 728 million daily users. Leverage those users and start posting your blog pieces across the various social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram. It’s free. It’s easy. It’s a no-brainer.

9. Consistency is Key

Running a blog for your business is a commitment. Stay true to your commitment and keep the posts updated at a  consistent rate. You want your readers to be able to depend on you to constantly deliver great, useful, and timely material on a regular basis.
