These Booker Boss Ladies Are Dominating the Beauty World

In the words of Beyoncé, who runs the (beauty)world? Girls. March 8th is big day for women all around the world. Why? Because it's International Women's Day–a day that we celebrate in recognition of all the hard-working ladies out there. At Booker, we interview our amazing customers throughout the year to spotlight their trailblazing efforts within their industries. We thought it would be a fun idea to feature some of the boss ladies we wrote about recently that are truly dominating the beauty world.

Check out how these inspirational women are changing the face of the salon and spa industries.

1. How the Founder of Skin Laundry Changed the Face of the Skincare Industry

Yen Reis, Founder of Skin Laundry

After struggling with skin issues that got more severe with age, Yen Reis founded Skin Laundry. While living in Asia, she found a safe and accessible laser and light therapy that greatly improved the health of her skin. The treatment was quick and effective, and best of all, had no downtime. When Yen moved to Los Angeles, she couldn’t find a similar treatment that was affordable and convenient. As her skin started to regress, she met with medical professionals and laser experts to fill this void in the market, and started Skin Laundry.

Her flagship store opened in 2013, but today, Skin Laundry has locations in California, New York, Arizona, London and Hong Kong, with several more on the horizon. We decided to have a little chat with this happy Booker customer, to learn more about her journey with Skin Laundry. Read more.

Stephanie Karellas, Founder of Kroma Salon

With over a decade of experience of providing eye-catching cuts, vivid color and enviable styling, award-winning master colorist Stephanie Karellas opened Kroma Salon. What’s even more impressive than those accolades? The fact that she was able to create one of the most highly sought-after hair salons in King City, Ontario in just nine months

Kroma Salon is the product of her passion for modern hair design, her dream of owning her business and her thirst for educating and sharing her experience with other stylists in the industry. She also credits her success to her hands-on approach to keep her love for pampering her clients’ tresses alive and her ability to design an environment that continues to inspire her and her team on a daily basis. 3. Taking a Leap: How the Founder of Olive & June Was Inspired to Start Her Groundbreaking Nail Salon

Sarah Gibson Tuttle, Founder of Olive & June

Before opening a Beverly Hills flagship nail salon in August 2013, Sarah Gibson Tuttle worked for ten years as an equity sales trader at JP Morgan & Morgan Stanley in New York City covering hedge funds and mutual funds. But quality of life wooed her out west.

When she arrived, she realized Los Angeles had everything she wanted except for the perfect nail salon. Seeing the opportunity to create a pretty space where women could expect and enjoy expert nail care on a regular basis and spend time with their friends, Sarah opened Olive & June.

Sarah named the nail salon after her great-grandmother and grandmother, the Gibson women who taught her the importance of having high standards and a big heart. Known as a destination for nail art and top-notch care, thanks to a loyal client base and extensive press coverage including VogueElle and Allure, Olive & June has been fortunate enough to become the trusted go-to for Los Angeles’ dynamic women of all ages. Read more.

After battling multiple skin issues that went unchanged with various dermatological interventions, she finally found relief after a life-changing experience with an aesthetician.

After seeing how much clear, glowing skin boosted her confidence and realizing how effective client-specific regimens are in treating chronic skin conditions, she realized she wanted to help others put their best face forward too.
